Join us on May 8, 2027, at the Main Library in Downtown Akron for Akron-Summit County Public Library's annual celebration showcasing authors, illustrators, publishers, and booksellers.

The Akron Book Fest welcomes submissions from authors and illustrators with original, published works. Applications for the fifth annual Akron Book Fest may be submitted by authors, illustrators, publicists, publishers, and other publishing professionals. 

Whether you're a lifelong reader, an aspiring writer, or simply curious about the local literary scene, there’s something for everyone.

Eligibility Criteria for the 2027 Fest

Authors and/or Illustrators must meet the following criteria:

• Born and/or lived in Ohio
• Physical books (E-book exclusives are not eligible) must have been published between January 1, 2024, and May 8, 2027
• Self-published works are welcome and will receive the same consideration as traditionally published books
• Books must be available for purchase on the day of the Fest, May 8, 2027
• Previous participants must reapply each year
• Previous participation is not guaranteed acceptance for future Akron Book Fests

How Are Vendors Selected?

A selection committee composed of Akron Book Fest Committee members reviews all submissions. The committee considers authors representing a wide range of genres, topics, and age groups. All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria listed above.

To ensure a diverse and engaging experience, preference may be given to authors who did not participate in the previous year's event.

Akron/Summit County authors and illustrators are given special consideration.
